The Basics

Korea is becoming the premiere destination for university graduates from native English speaking countries who want to teach ESL. With a desirable blend of available income, good living conditions, low monthly expenses and a rich cultural history, the opportunities are endless in Korea.

Korea is making a statement that it will continue to grow its position as a major player on the international economic scene. With huge corporations such as LG, Hyundai and Samsung leading the way, Korean companies are hungrier than ever for knowledge. In this highly competitive society, Korean students are pushed hard from a very young age. The country is reaping the rewards as Korean students continue to rank at, or near the top in all major testing categories for all age groups. While science, math and engineering continue to be a major focus for this technology driven economy, the society is realizing that mastering the English language is vital for them to thrive in this new stage of globalization.

The time to come to Korea to teach English has never been better. The demand for energetic, qualified teachers has never been higher, and continues to out-pace supply. This is surprising because there are such a high number of people qualified to come to Korea, teach English, experience a new exciting country, and make some excellent money at the same time.

Koreans are savvy businessmen. As a result of this, while demand for teachers is high, the majority of jobs across the entire country are quite similar.

Here are the basics:

To Qualify - You must have a university degree in any major, and be from a native English speaking country. (Canada, USA, New Zealand, Australia, UK, South Africa and Ireland are all allowed by the Korean government.)
