Fitness in Korea

Hiking

  • Korean National Pastime
  • Korea is 75% mountains and almost every mountain has hiking trails.
  • Most trails are not too steep and will take only 30 minutes to 2 hours long to finish.
  • Beautiful views from the peaks for pictures to send home.
  • A Buddhist temple, beautiful stream or waterfall usually motivates our hikes.

Gym - $20 a month with 30+ treadmills, excellent machines and rarely busy!

  • Free – a variety of dancing, yoga, biking, or boxer-cise classes.
  • Free – fitness testing and training as often as you’d like.
  • Does not feel as intimidating as gyms do at home.

Yoga – Plenty of options city-wide.

Taekwondo– The Korea National sport is great for strength, focus and general fitness

Hapkido – Another very common martial art found in Korea.

Soccer – A local team of foreigners, or Korean leagues on the weekends.

Tennis and Basketball – Outside courts at most schools or playgrounds.

Baseball – local teams play on the weekends, and tournaments.

*** There are local professional baseball and soccer teams to cheer for as well. ***

I’ve lost 25 pounds here and have never felt better. Healthy food, hiking and the gym have proved to be the winning combination for me.
