Work Visa / Alien Card


STEP 1) Teacher signs a copy of the agreed upon contract. (keep a copy for your records)

STEP 2) Teacher then sends to the school, or recruiting company:

 

 

 

 

  • The original, or scanned copy of the contract;
  • 2 passport photos;
  • Sealed university transcript (scores/grades);
  • Original university degree;
  • Photocopy of the information page from the information of teachers passport.

STEP 3) The school will send the teacher’s information, and signed contract to the local Korean Immigration office, requesting an E2 Working Visa Number for the teacher.

STEP 4) When the school receives this important E2 Working Visa Number, they will give it to the teacher. (Through Teach ESL Korea)

STEP 5) Teacher will send, or bring in person, to the Korean embassy nearest them:

  • Completed form from the Korean embassy with the E2 Working Visa Number;
  • Teacher’s original passport;
  • Money order with the exact amount depending on your country;
  • 2 passport sized photos.

**This process may take up to 2 weeks by mail, or 1 day in person.

STEP 6) When the work visa is processed, the Korean Embassy will send the teacher back their passport. It will have an E2 Work Visa stamp inside.

STEP 7) Teach Esl Korea will arrange for the teacher's flight to Korea.

STEP 8) Teacher flies to Korea and can legally begin working.

STEP 9) Teacher will go to a Korean Immigration office in their city to obtain an Alien Card and Alien Card Number. The teacher must bring their:

  • Passport;
  • 2 passport sized photos;
  • Original contract;
  • Original degree;
  • The cost for the Alien Card is 10,000 won.

STEP 10) Once the alien card is ready, about two weeks, the teacher will need to pick it up. Keep your receipt to make this process go smoothly. With the alien card, the teacher can now open their own bank account. Always bring your passport for major banking transactions such as opening of an account, or sending money home.
